Public’s Assistance Requested: Traffic Congestion near Spokane County Fairgrounds

PR 2023

Public’s Assistance Requested: Traffic Congestion near Spokane County Fairgrounds
Please Avoid the Area between 7:30 am - 8:30 am & 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to avoid the area around the Spokane County Interstate Fairgrounds to alleviate traffic congestion as Firefighters and other Spokane Complex Fire Resources travel to and from the Incident Command Post.

With the Spokane Complex Fire Command Post stationed at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds, traffic on Broadway Avenue and Havana Street in the area of the fairgrounds becomes extremely congested at points during the day.  With nearly 2,000 additional Firefighters and their equipment here to assist, we are asking the public to avoid the area by taking another route to lessen congestion and the time fire personnel spend caught in traffic.

Please avoid the area between 7:30 am - 8:30 am & 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm:

E. Broadway between N. Havana Street and N. Fancher Road
 N. Havana Street between E. Sprague Avenue and E. Trent Avenue

We want to ensure fire personnel can continue their mop-up/fire containment efforts and spend less time commuting due to traffic delays.  In addition, to help alleviate traffic congestion, temporary road closures may occur in these areas as needed.

Please avoid these areas, as traffic delays due to high traffic volume and potential closures should be expected.
